KIVILIIM
MORTAR-STONE ADHESIVE
BASED ON PORTLAND CEMENT, CONTAINING PLASTICISERS AND POLYMERS
APPLICATION AND PROPERTIES
Mortar-stone adhesive is an adhesive cement mixture used for laying synthetic and natural stones and blocks into walls, floors, terraces, façades, etc. Stone adhesive has a short setting and hardening time. Hardened mortar is heat resistant.
Stone adhesive can also be successfully used for repointing stonewalls.
Mortar stone adhesive is manufactured in grey and white. As a special order, it can also be tinted with organic pigments as per the Uninaks colour range. The colour of the stone adhesive is stated on the package.
Suitable for internal and external applications.
GROUND SURFACE
Stone adhesive can be used on surfaces covered with concrete, plaster, moisture resistant filler paste, gypsum lath, clinker boards, bricks, blocks, expanded polystyrene and other hard surfaces covered with mineral materials.
PREPARATION WORKS
The ground surface shall be free from dust and loose particles. Ground surfaces with strong absorption shall be preliminarily processed with bonding dispersion, diluted with water if necessary (Uninaks Bonding Dispersion). Stones and blocks shall be cleaned from dust and dirt.
PREPARATION FOR USE
Pour 5.5-6 liters of clean lukewarm water per 25 kg bag (22-24% of mix weight). Add stone adhesive powder and mix until the mixture is of even composition and completely wet (the quantity of water depends on the porosity of the ground surface and thickness of the stone adhesive layer). Let the mixture stand for approximately 3 minutes and thereafter mix once again. Ready-made mixture should be used within 4 hours.
USAGE
Use a brick towel or wide tooth-edged spattle to apply stone adhesive mixture onto the ground surface or stones. Normal layer thickness is 5-10 mm. Press stones into the stone adhesive mixture and remove excess mixture immediately. Use a dry brush if necessary. Due to an extended content of the adhesive agent, it is difficult to remove the mixture from the stones later. Jointing works can be started after the mixture has started to set. Setting time depends on the thickness of the mortar layer, moisture content and temperature of the surrounding environment.
Hardened mortar-stone adhesive forms a strong surface and possesses strong compression strength.
RESTRICTIONS AND SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Brick, stone adhesive and air temperatures when working with stone adhesive shall be above +5 0C.
The product contains cement. Contact with water causes an alkaline reaction that can irritate the skin. In case of contact with eyes rinse eyes immediately with plenty of fresh water. Further information can be obtained from the safety card.
STORAGE
Packed stone adhesive powder to be stored in a dry room. Shelf life up to one year.
