MASONRY MORTAR FOR REFRACTORY BRICKS ATS
For laying firebrick heat storing walls, stove cladding, fireplace walls, flues, internal chimneys.
QUALITIES
Good plasticity, masonry mortar with a grey shade for refractory bricks.
COMPOSITION
Fine-grained quartz sand (maximum grain 0.8 mm), clay powder, Portland cement, heat-resistant additives.
Pressure resistance of petrified masonry mortar for refractory bricks is at least 5 MPa.
APPLICATION
Masonry mortar for refractory bricks is intended for bricklaying of different fireboxes made of firebricks. Stoves, cookers, heat storing walls, heat storing seats, conducts, etc.
For laying chimneys in the heatable part of the building.
PREPARATION FOR THE WORK
Pour needed quantity of mortar powder into the cement mixer or mixing vessel.
Add water 20-22 % of the mortar’s weight. (5.0 – 5.5 litres of water per 25 kg bag)
Mix carefully mechanically or manually until the clay particles contained in the mortar are completely and evenly wet.
Leave the mortar for a while and then mix slightly again.
The ready-made mortar is usable for 2 hours.
ADVICE FOR POTTERY
Thickness of a normal masonry mortar for laying firebrick is 3-5 mm.
Width of a clean joint in the brickwork part is usually 10 mm.
Joints of the laid bricks can be flattened with a jointer.
In order to obtain joints with special shades, leave a cleaned joint with the depth of approximately 20 mm during bricklaying, which can later be filled with UNINAKS mortar mix of the needed shade.
Start-up heating of the completed fireboxes should be started with small quantities of heating material.
RESTRICTIONS
When working with the brick stove mortar, the temperature of the stone, mortar and air needs to be at least above +5°C.
Start-up heating of the heating elements can be started after the cement contained in the mortar has petrified.
Brick stove mortar is not suitable for laying fireboxes or internal cladding of firebrick stoves – fireplaces. Uninaks Stove mortar should be used for this purpose.
Masonry mortar for refractory bricks is not suitable for laying bearing wall constructions.
The product contains cement. Alkaline reaction in case of contact with water. May cause skin irritation. Upon contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of clean water. Further details are found on the material safety data sheet of the product.
STORAGE
Keep the stove mortar powder in bags in a dry room.
Shelf life of the mortar powder is 12 months.
STANDARD CONSUMPTION
A 25 kg bag is sufficient for laying 25-30 average-sized bricks with a 10 mm joint.
In case of a 5 mm joint, the consumption rate is 50 % smaller.
